OK, enough already!

Let's recap the trip so far...fly to Phoenix to spend 5 days and end up spending a week because my mom's boyfriend Lenny is in and out of the hospital...San Diego, Half Moon Bay and Redwood Forest  were fine...Roger and Deirdre's in Oregon was great until the last day when we had to take Roger to the Emergency Room...next couple days were iffy worrying about Roger and then finding out my Mother was also taken to the emergency room...Deb's house was fun, but we decided to leave Knepp's early and head to Helena and then Billings (hoping this will get us back on track), on the drive into Montana we find out mother needs Triple Bypass surgery...She is scheduled for surgery 2 days later, so now we decide to rush through Montana (skipping our Billings stop), race down Wyoming, get into Colorado, we think we can collect everything we'll need for the next 7-8 months and fly to Phoenix arriving just before she goes in surgery. Not a chance, we get everything done, get to the airport and the flight is delayed 3 hours. Without us present, my mother breezes through her surgery, gets released after 5 days in the hospital, and even though we've had to skip Kansas City we get back on the road and head to Mississippi... we have a great time at Price's and in New Orleans with Jess and the girls, even though the heat index is hovering around 110 degrees. Disney World is Disney World, and lives up to "the Happiest Place on Earth". It is finally starting to feel like a holiday...head to Key West...first couple of days were awesome, a little to hot, but great fun!! Then Irene appears...no this is not some woman, this is a freaking Hurricane...1st reports have it hitting close to the Keys so we hurry up and change our plans...we were heading to Orlando to see my Nephews High School team play football, so we figure why not just spend a couple extra days...we extend our car rental and reserve our room for 2 additional days, cancel 2 days in Key West and presto-chango all fixed...right...NOT...Irene is now heading up the eastern seaboard heading direct to Charleston...our next destination. Worse, we need to fly out of Charleston on Sunday to DC...expected landfall for the hurricane is Saturday...so now assuming we survive the Hurricane in Charleston and somehow catch a plane 1 day after the city is ravaged, we fly to DC which is next in line for this Bitch!! Not only that, but today DC has an earthquake...a big earthquake for this part of the world. What the f#@k is going on here!
My question is...how do we overcome these natural disasters that are stalking us??? We show up, or plan to go somewhere, and people are hit with decease, whole towns are threatened with Hurricanes, and cities suffer earthquakes ...a curse perhaps? I am going to bed and worrying about all this tomorrow. Oh, by the way, I still love my life!
