The Rain, The Train and Nancy's Pain.

At this moment in Corniglia it is pouring...one of those open the heavens, and let her come, kind of rains.
It looked like rain this morning and has been building up to it all day. When we first woke up we had our coffee on the Lanai, it was a wonderful overcast day, very cool and a little breeze. The perfect morning weather, the birds were enjoying the sky above us and seemed as pleased as we were with the day. The local rooster was a bit confused though and "cock-a-doodle-do'd" for about 3 hours.
Our master plan for this fine day was to go to Riomaggiore, Nanc needs to pick up something for a rash she's developed on her leg (very itchy and painful to the touch). We're pretty sure it's heat rash and "Dr. Computer" says, Calamina Lozione is the thing for it. Unfortunately we have no Farmacia in Corniglia. This is the disadvantage of being in the "Italian Sticks". So anyway, we get dressed, grabbed our rain coats (in case) and headed down to the train station. It's always a great day for a walk thru the Italian countryside.
We get to the station and notice no one is there. As I walk up to the ticket counter I see the sign...train service has been suspended today until 9pm for an unannounced strike! This is so perfect...I just did my rant about the trains a couple days ago and one of my good friends, Don Chelemedos, wrote back and shared his experience of this exact thing happening to him. He unfortunately had to spend big bucks and catch a cab to a train station in France, where he could catch a train so as to make his flight back to the States. We, on the other hand, shrugged our shoulders and climbed 382 steps back to town. Good exercise for us, and the rash can wait one more day to heal.
Now the rain has stopped. No difference to us. Ciao, from the "Key of Easy".
