Life is Good

9/04/11
Matteos for lunch

Its worth the walk.

rough walk...whats that boat doing there?

344 steps from here

Whole Foods...Vegetable Dept.
Today...ahhh today! They say that today, is always the first day ,of the rest of your life. I woke up this morning with that in mind. We actually slept in until about 9am (we could tell it was 9am by the way the church bells went nuts...they must have been calling (or demanding) the faithful to prayers, remember we are in Catholic Heaven (well not really heaven), if you know what I mean. After lazing around, eating a little fruit and trying to wash up in a child’s bathtub, we felt reasonably ready to start the day. First order of business was to find some market to replace Whole Foods...the market we have chosen (because of its excellent proximity - 25 feet down and 25 feet over) is about as big as the check out area of our market back home, we did however find everything on our list and all of it was organic and freshly picked. We are now ready for dinner (besides the cooking part.)...Now for lunch and a little adventure, we found a little ristorante just down the alley, Matteo’s was unpretentious but good, after a Cotto Mozzarella and Spinach Mozzarella sandwich, we were ready to roll. We had decided over lunch to tackle the walk to the sea...I know this sounds easy since we are basically on the sea, however you have to remember the only route to the sea, from Corniglia, is a steep path with 344 steps (we counted) from our little alley. Never will you be so rewarded by a little hard walking, this place is breathtaking, my only word of advise would be to make sure you do your touristy gawking on the way up and not down...you could seriously break something if you slipped going down this path. I am happy to report Nanc and I both won our achievement patch for the hike...down and up with no problem. It was 9am one minute and now its 6pm...this is how life was suppose to be mapped out...a little supper, some good local vino and bed...like the T shirt says, “Life is Good”. Ciao.
