Todi...

Beautiful Renaissance Church.

What's he doing here? Maybe Todi Chapter?

Going to confession...to take a picture!
La Scalette...delicious.

Scene from the top of the village.

Nancy's new buddy...he came over to her, rolled on his back and wanted her to scratch his tummy.

Outside Todi in the country this leads to a B and B.

Todi.
Nancy's Mexitalian...all local ingredients, but needs some salsa.
It’s amazes me that I love every village I visit in Italy...really. Even though they are alike, each one has it’s distinctive personality. In just 5 weeks we have seen so many different places, it leaves us dizzy. A big difference from Umbria to 5trerre, is the Mediterranean...a show stopper for sure, but Umbria has such majestic lands it equals what the sea has to offer. In the 5terre we travelled by train and frankly I liked it, each village was close and it was a convenient way to visit all of them. Even Portofino, which took an hour and a half, wasn’t really a hassle. In Umbria without a car we’d be lost. The drives are just as exciting as the villages and a interesting way to spend part of your day...no kidding, you spend every minute in the car saying, look over there, oh oh look over here...it really is spell binding (that’s why I’ve already taken a zillion pictures).
Today we travelled to Todi. This ancient medieval city is located in rolling hills, it rises up out of nowhere, to invite you in. Not sure when it was founded but historians agree it existed prior to the 4th century BC. Most of the city is contained within the ancient town walls. The temple of Santa Maria Della Consolazion is the 1st thing you see when coming in from Orvieto, and it is stunning. It’s a renaissance church built in the shape of a Greek Cross, what an awesome design. If you come this way don’t miss it, you’ll thank me for telling you.
We had a great lunch at La Scalette, a marvelous restaurant with  garden sitting and a nice view. It is situated within the old town walls and has a tasty House Antipasto...we would happily recommend  it to you if you head this way.
I’m getting my drivers legs in Italy, so we decided to just head cross country to Alviano...I knew the general direction and was certain I could figure out where we were and how to get home. A great decision, we saw things you just can’t read about in a travel guides. I highly suggest getting off the main roads and seeing the real Umbria...I promise you will smile and be amazed at the sights.
Nanc and I both agree we are figuring this long term traveling out...no rush, relax, if not today...tomorrow. See all you can while enjoying what you see. Look forward to the next moment but cherish the one your in. You can’t see it all no matter how long you have, so keep yourself pointed in the right direction and just walk!
