Traveling

  We love traveling...Nancy and I have really enjoyed filling our days with new sites, sounds, tastes and experiences. When we are home we are normally pretty active with walks, outings and planned events...just like here. As good as being busy is, we know that sometimes the best days are just hanging and relaxing...we have hit that spot in Alviano, we are worn out with all the go go go and need to take a few days to just sit, enjoy each others company and recharge. There are 5 days before we leave here and, besides short trips, we are staying close to the village.

     Today was great, we got up late, took our time getting ready and drove into Rome for our last visit...we wanted to scout out the Fiumicino airport, car rental return location and an IKEA we had seen...yes one of those huge stores that has everything, we haven’t been in something like that for maybe 5 months and it was fun. After a couple hours of wandering around, one small purchase and a hotdog and coke we headed up the coast for a drive up to Civitavecchia and Viterbo. Beautiful countryside, nothing like Umbria...coastal area around Civitavecchia more like Southern California. Even saw a few palm trees.

     Tomorrow, if we have the gittyup, we plan a drive to Bolsena and some Etruscan Style Perch...I’ll make sure Nanc get’s enough sleep...this really is the very best thing I’ve eaten in Italy, have no idea what they do, or ingredients but it is scrumptious. Total cost for a plate is only about 11euros...add some house Rosso and its the perfect meal.

     During our down days we will be searching online to find some cool things to do on the Amalfi Coast and in Pompei...its also time we started taking a hard look at Tasmania...so cool Tasmania! Like I said, we love traveling.
