Time speeding up, Excitement building!

     Here we are 2 months from departure, WOW! Nancy and I are facing this time in much different fashion. Nancy has equated our last couple months of trip preparation to making Thanksgiving dinner, you plan and plan and prepare and then the meals excellence all revolves around how you handle the last 15 minutes...I'm of course more of a "everything will workout" kind of guy...I just keep singing "Don't worry be Happy". We have perfect balance!
      On 04/26 we are moving over to Jessica's and face not living in our own house for more than a year, this is a little unsettling but it gets us one step closer to being on the road. We are so excited to see what 8 months of travel (and homelessness) will do to our lives and future and how it will change our perspective of the world. It's like being young again with tremendous potential for growth and change...after all we need some direction for what we're gonna do for the next 20 years.

mass panic!

These next couple months are shaping up to mass panic. We rented the main house knowing we had the Carriage house, we rented the Carriage house knowing we could stay with daughter Jessica until we left July 5th...but of course Murphy's law is alive and well, 2 days later Jess gets a contract on her house and the buyers wants possession May 27th!!! So now the plan within the plan within the plan has Nancy and I along with Jess and the girls staying in a suite at the local Marriott until June 15th and then they all drive down to Louisiana while I spend 2 weeks in Vegas working...Yikes!!! What's next. Then me and Nanc meet up back at DIA and spend the 4th in Colorado before leaving for Vegas...and my last business trip for 8 months...

OK let me see...new locks installed/CHECK, new toilet installed/CHECK, elliptical machine out/ CHECK...tomorrow move library to storage and finalize a couple payments.
I think we've hit the point of no return......Yea!!!

Puzzle pieces falling!

Today we rented the Carriage House. One more piece of the puzzle completed...Bonnie moves in on May 1st and we are going to share digs with Jessica and the girls for 2 months...since we will be helping her get ready to move to Baton Rogue it might just be easier to be at her house. Next up sell the 2nd car...maybe tomorrow.

Time to get with it...

Since my last post lots has happened...I had a chance to sit down with my boss and tell him of our plans, what a wonderful guy and friend, he was very understanding and supportive. Not sure if I'll come back to a job but it's not out of the question. We finalized our itinerary and got most of our reservations made and I actually sent the itinerary out to friends and family. I've spent the last week paying for most of our flights, hotels and excursions...I'm feeling poorer but the trip is starting to look more real (must be something to do with shelling out the cash). You know this trip is really a long time in the making and our only regret is not being able to add a couple of more stops and excursions to the list. Next time we will include Africa, Egypt and Peru. So much to see and do and so little time and $. In the next couple of weeks I will try to sale one of my cars and rent out our Carriage House...we need to start tying up lose ends. This next 3 months is going to fly by! We love our lives!
